Tasha Page-Lockhart just came from the hospital with her son. She said he’s okay but it goes to show that the balance between a music career and motherhood can be a challenge. Since winning season six of BET’s Sunday Best, the 31-year-old Detroit native has had the task of juggling her blossoming career with her family life, but she makes sure that her relatives know they take priority.

Before winning season six of Sunday Best, Lockhart had her hand in several creative pots, dabbling in both theater and cosmetology. However, the music business found a way to call her name.

“A friend of mine called and said the Lord put it on his heart to send me to audition for Sunday Best. I was like ‘What? I don’t think I’m good enough to compete.’”

Despite her doubts, she accepted encouragement from her family and jet-setted to Houston for the auditions and the rest is history. Since winning, the mother of two has been keeping busy not only with her gospel career but with acting as well.

“I’ve done a few plays. I did a play called Deranged with Robin Givens, Clifton Powell and Malik Yoba. I did the Broadway musical The Wiz. I did a movie called Who Can I Run To? written and directed by Paul Hanner. I’m just thankful to God because last year I won and the year before that I was in hair school not doing that much musically. So all of this just took off.”
